THE INDIAN CONSTITUTION

Posting one of my old articles published in the National Journal of Homoeopathy in Jan 2010 issue. Many might have read it on my notes on the facebook page. Thought of re-posting it on the occasion of the Republic day. Some juvenile write-up for fun, enjoy and of course HAPPY REPUBLIC DAY TO ALL!!

THE INDIAN CONSTITUTION.

The constitution of India though formally lately formed, is deep rooted and ancient.

KINGDOM....... Belonged to the “British Kingdom” once upon a time and had to struggle to find its own place in history.

PROVING....... India stood the test of time and had to ‘prove’ itself time and again, before the world could take its cognizance and acknowledged its presence.

INTRODUCTION..... Now it certainly needs no introduction! Once upon a time a land of ‘serpents’ ‘sadhus’ and ‘spices’ has come to be known as the land of ‘space-crafts’, ‘software solutions’ and ‘cyberspace’…………. India has certainly arrived!!

MODE OF ACTION......The ‘mode of action’ suddenly seems to be drifting from recognition deprived , tolerant behavior of ‘magnesium’ to the assertive drive of ‘now’ of ‘lycopodium’.

SPHERES OF ACTION........Very few countries can boast of such wide ‘spheres of action’ as that of India. Right from computer-ports to sports, knowledge to tech-(k)nology, and culture to agri-culture, India is shining.

EVOLUTION...........A country that was 'evolving'for a long period time, at a ‘slow pace’ has suddenly gained momentum. Even as the whole world sleeps, India is behind the screens, on its tips to make the most of time advantage.

From the ‘grit-laden’ ‘Silician’ age of Aryans, to the gold cast ‘Aurum’ era of being called the golden sparrow, from the ‘vice’ and ‘spice’ indulgent ‘Nux’ era, to the laid back ignorance ofCarbo-veg, India has come a long, long way.It witnessed an ‘indignant’ response of ‘non-violence’, ‘non co-operation’ of ‘Staphysagria’ and ‘rebellious’ opposition to ‘injustice’, fight for the right of ‘Natrum’, especially so in braking the 'salt’ rules. It saw the steely ‘Metallicdetermination of defense to form an army within the army. It also obeyed the ‘philosophical’ and ‘spiritual’ grounding of ‘Sulphur’ much needed during the turbulent times.
Just as the whole world slept, India woke up to a new dawn of existence. The gasps of free-air were stifling though, what with the ‘grief’ of ‘parting’ with the ‘loved-ones suffocating the country. An ailments from which India still suffers to this day.

A constitution that was robust in the north-west, had ‘marasmussed’ into a lean and thin nation. The supposedly teething problems of poverty, population explosion lasted too long .The milestones of food ,water and electricity to all were very delayed. The milestones of the good roads are yet to arrive!! . India continued to develop albeit at a slower pace thriving on ‘doodh-ganga’ and vitamin-m from wheat and cotton.

GENERALS Generally speaking India has been

Hot and ‘Happenning’ever since its inception.

Being cold to the happenings around has never been India’s TEMPERAMENT

Siding the RIGHT is a matter of virtue for India

Its CRAVING for ‘spice’ and ‘salt’ has attracted the world market now .

AVERSION to ‘bitterness’ be it of ‘thought’, ‘taste’ or ‘tongue’, is

something that India never really developed preference for.

Its UNQUENCHABLE THIRST for knowledge is unparalleled. Being recognized

as the Oxford of the east, it is becoming a major educational hub.

‘THE SWEAT OF THE BROW' is almost unheard of, what with the laid-back attitude?

But yes it does PERSPIRE UNDER THE COLLAR when the news of neighboring ‘nukes’

leaks out!!

Indians and SLEEP are an equation. It has had a long sleep of 150 or odd years and

not very peaceful one.

MIND Finally what does one say of the Indian MINDSET?!

No other constitution in the world has had such a heady combination of ‘INTELLECT’ and ‘EMOTIONS.’If world had to delete Indians from their intellectual property, it would reduce to half. Lacking in ‘WILL’ it never has thought twice before taking ‘MOTIVATION’ from others. Persistence and endurance have been India’s ‘DRIVE’ which keeps world`s trust in ‘also-rans’. Discovering and placing a value on Zero, India has always remained a minimalist. An attitude according to some could well be in tune with India`s laid back attitude.

Emotions have been India`s biggest strength and virtue. World humbles at its ‘philosophical’ and ‘spiritual’ bent. In crisis when in need of comprehensive thinking, world has always backed upon India. Tolerance, understanding and acceptance are the qualities that Indians are born with than taught, though at times they have proved to be more of liabilities than assets. Hopeless dreamers (day) that Indians are, have dreamt of being the ‘numero-uno’. To realize this dream India is forming ‘complimentary’ relations with the ‘mighty’ constitutions. The neighboring ‘inimical’ relations are best ignored. Will ignorance prove to be the best antidote?! Do not know only time can tell, but Indian constitution definately needs a prescription for action. With auxillary line of implimentation of rules and follow up on infrastructure,India can go a long way!

All in all now is the time for the world where India ‘matters’ the most, and we as indians certainly do not ‘mind’ that.

SAHAJ

Started this year, and also the blog on the note of synchrony and harmony. Looking back it appears the year indeed was of “things falling in their proper place”.

Had resolved not to make any resolutions in the year and hey so this time could actually keep my resolution of not making any!! The idea was to take life as it comes, to be in step with it though (in sync)! ‘zindagika saath nibhate chale gaye” and sure it helped.

First and foremost my son got on the career track. From now on he treads on the path and navigates himself. Slowly waking up from the inertia that was building up at work. Got many long pending, yet boring works done. But there was no obstinacy to get it done. It is this stubbornness that causes the agitation and so the boredom. The word for the year was therefore “SAHAJ”!! Eminent marathi auther pu la Deshpande has said somewhere ‘sahaj te sunder’, that which is at ease is beautiful! There should not be rigid agitation to make things happen. That one should make them happen but with ease and there lies the beauty in it. Indeed very difficult to practice. Too much of leniency brings lethargy and stagnancy too!

Removed lot of long lying rather stagnating waste from life. Mental house keeping or cleansing whatever one may call. But as they say cleaning is never done and complete. It is a process, and one needs to keep doing it. So intend to continue doing it in the next year. There,.......... the resolutions are taking shape already for the next year! Why not, now that I have broken the jinx of not keeping them can dare to make a few this year and keep them too! Yes want to reach the destinations of resolutions but with the ‘ease’ of journey too!

Wish You All A Very Happy, Healthy, Joyous, and A prosperous New-Year!!

My dream girl

She is not just my girl Friday but she is my girl every other day of the week, has been for seven years. She is my right hand. She is a dream (Sapana) help that you hope for, especially if you are juggling your family and career.

Her frail short figure confidently stood answering the questions put to her seven years back. Appearing just a few years older than my son, she appeared a kid herself. She would barely be able to reach the platform let alone cook was what I was thinking when the string of black beads caught my eye! “Are you married” I asked? “Just a month ago” she replied! Just as I was thinking of child labor, child marriage joined the thoughts as well. “How old are you” I asked and “eighteen” came the pat reply! “What proof do you have”? I asked. “I am married” she said! I decided to take for her words. May or may not be an expert t cooking, I thought but the girl definitely was sharp and smart with a good presence of mind. “You are hired” I said knowing what to expect. Blessing in disguise I thought, can imprint my style of cooking on her blank slate! With the mundane so called mutual settlement of the wages we began our foray into the culinary world.

Her blank epicurean slate stared at me as she fumbled through the chores. It did not require rocket science to gauge that there was a humongous feat ahead to give ‘paid’ cookery classes!! Much better than the rigid clay that refuses to budge was my rationalizing thought. And flexible is what she turned out to be.

She made mistakes (what were mistake anyway? Mistakes were those that were not my way!!) but never same twice. Neither did she ever retaliate if fallacies in her work were pointed out. She would on occasions ask to be taught many things that were not part of her job. She was ever ready to listen and grasp the tips. I could see her applying them the next time. She had to quit her education post marriage. With a drunk vagabond as her husband she needed to earn and so school was out of question. She would often take books from me to read. I could see her grow along all the parameters, age, wisdom, finance, experience yes and also ambition! The pieces of gold that she adorned went on increasing steadily. “Why do you buy so many gold ornaments”? I asked. “They will come of use as I buy my own place” she said. With the present boom in gold prices she enquired whether she should sell her gold now and free her money? I was taken aback by her wisdom ! She did several courses in beauty treatments and earns her extra income from beauty treatments. She did government run small scale industry promotion courses in making jams, jellies and pickles and now makes and markets them as per demand.

Just as her earnings increased she wanted to open a saving’s account to hide and multiply her savings from violently demanding husband. When she handed me the pan card with other documents to open the account, I was floored! I hugged her proudly and offered her a prize for her financial savvy ness. When she asked for books as her prize I was really stunned!! She could have asked for so many things given a chance, dresses, accessories, cosmetics, furnishings but instantly she asked for books.

She is not just my ‘Sapana’ now but a proud mother of a toddler. An expecting mother who took biographies from me to read because, wanted a courageous child. She also named him ‘Shourya’ which means courage. She often takes homoeopathy for herself and her child. She has not required a constitutional medicine as yet (and I hope she does not require soon) but when she does require, I will give her………………SILICA!

In sync

Hello folks,
was contemplating writing a blog for a long time now. Was not sure about the subject of the blog though, so kept putting it away. Wanted to write on so many subjects at a time from homeopathy to books, places, films diet, so much so that even thought of naming the blog as 'khichadi' crossed my mind....!Many things make you ponder and at times wonder so thought 'perception' would be a good title for the blog, but then that was too heavy a title. Many a times half the things go unnoticed by us let alone perceive! Ultimately decided to just take the plunge and go with the flow.
So come new year and here I am literally with a new page!
Homeopathy definitely would be the soul of the blog. But then its NOT JUST HOMEOPATHY after all...........!
Would like to share the first thought in the new year. Don't know what to call it in just one word? Is it a complete feeling/containment,or gratitude? Gratitude for having people around you whose company you bask in, you love or have that feeling of containment. No din of full blast music, fireworks, intoxicated banter. Actually even that but with a similar chord, because loudest of beat cannot cover the silent humming of the discord within. So life is about similar after all!

When you do strike a chord with someone, something, music happens and you feel peaceful, content, grateful and richest. If you wake with this feeling every day, what more can you ask for?
So heres wishing everyone a happy, glorious and harmonious life ahead.......!
